4chan seems to have some natural barriers. First, there's the "darkest place on the internet" reputation. Then, the website design is offputting to most, and finally, the toxicity of the culture. Theoretically speaking, if these barriers did not exist, do you believe that chans would become a more common format?
What I find interesting is that people here feel authentic then any other social media I've been on. If social media is about socializing and chans offer more authentic discussion wouldn't we expect some format of them to be more popular?
