Can't give you advice on the course but I can give you advice on living in Durham: Don't go to Fabios Bar it's shit and I've had many mates get spiked there.

I just graduated from Durham OP. My advice is enjoy it man. Physics is a prestigious course there and it'll push your boundaries, but don't forget to relax as well. Its a great place with so much college culture and student bars and nooks and societies that you could immerse yourself in there. I was a fucking autistic 4chan cunt and I ruined it for myself a little, but you don't have to. Good luck OP.
