I'm not in research either, I work in industry. We do exploratory work, some of which is publishable if you could count that as research though.

I did reseach in undergrad, and still am now but I consider myself more production for research with research for production on the side
t plant cell tissue culture transformation technician

I'm too dumb/unmotivated/old to have gone for a PhD, so settled with a masters. Its kind of nice though because every plant researcher and their mother want me working for them

yea trying to get out ASAP though. It will always be home but Im so done here. Its great for plant science but I'm just kind of done with this town. Interviewing for a gig in Los Alamos just for a change of scenery

I lived there for a year during a short research stint at washu. I didn't have a car because I thought "eh it's a fairly populous city I won't need one." big mistake
I've never seen such a dead downtown area, and I feel like I explored all there was to do near university city/forest park area in just a month or two.

Just started my masters and first semester is online so no research at the moment, but a professor offered me a position in his lab next semester if im interested. it is a laser lab and most of my research would be on light-matter interactions

not him but for me I found Industry to be a better fit. Faster paced, more "real world" problem solving. There are some really good academia/govt labs dont get me wrong, but the cutting of cutting edge (at least in my feild) occurs in industry.

Senior undergrad going for a BS in Biochem and Molecular Biology + minor in German in the US.
I'm currently just a research assistant on a AB5 cholera toxin project that's been going on for a while. It's the first project that I've been genuinely really interested in and do extra reading and research on in my free time, I think I'd like to pursue a biochem molec. biology masters in Germany, then a PhD after. But we'll see

Not in CS so I can't just set up a laptop in starbucks and start cranking out dollar bills. To even begin to be effective I need at least a few million in equipment. Plus I've found I don't work very efficiently by myself, unless I were to go back to landscaping.

I come from a long line of Yeoman. My place is in service of the Queen (on a team doing legwork for those on a higher plane than myself)

I have a bachelors in computer engineering but I like to train rats. Does that count as research? Right now I’m trying to get fancy rats to count faces. It’s quite hard. I’m trying to get a enough cages so I can breed the easier to train rats and the more hyper rats (which I guess I easier to train) And make sure they don’t get inbreed. I am trying to use this piece of paper that has 1-9 on it and what they do is go through an little door with a hinge look around then walk back. If they go on the right number I give them a treat. Hasn’t worked so far. Trained them for several hours and no luck. They just go to the same number despite the number of faces increasing and decreasing in number.

PhD candidate (EE) in quantum communication/computing. I've got a master's in computer science and engineering (including professional degree for the engineering-part). Didn't wanna end up a slowly degenerating code monkey like I was destined to be with a CSE degree so I got into research instead.

But yeah, it's dope as hell to dick around with lasers, and I'm still low-key believing that much of the stuff in the single-photon regime (entanglement/swapping) works by pure magic (inb4 'muh shared wavefunctions'). Fucking hate aligning optics ad infinitum to get good experimental results tho.
