How can we fix the cs degree?

Should it stop trying to be so theoretical in nature? The jobs that cs students try to get are in no way similar to what cs professors are doing. CS professors are basically doing applied math research while being in a department that tries to advertise itself as something else. This something else is software engineering and programming. So should CS get rid of its theoretical aspect and just focus on practical programming skills and have those professors doing research in cs simply go back to the applied math departments?
