can someone explain to me the psychology of this?
How does one become the thing that he hates?

Does it has something to do with natural supremacy theory, ie a rodent hates its predators for they are superior than it so in return the rodent become the predator itself.?

So the void gaze comment isn't what I would consider one describing becoming what you hate. As towards becoming what you hate. It's a weird thing to be honest. A lot of thst ironically comes from the fact that we tend to hate ourselves a lot and project that outwards. I'd say it's more common we are what we hate intrinsically, but many times we hate most intently the things we already hate most about ourselves. Then there are the self fulfilling prophecies, where the hate itself warps you. Hating people who are unfaithful leading to a person believing all are stewed in this conceit and thus removing their own sense of guilt about being unfaithful themselves. The hypocrite is a painful mental cage. Many gays suffer in it as they are programmed to hate the fact they are gay and then suffer under this and project their homophobia outwards due to their rampant self-hate needing an outlet.

I thought it was about existential dread, not hatred. I've a friend who spent too much time deconstructing everything in life and proving to himself that none of it matters, eventually falling into depression because of it, that's what I think of as "staring into the abyss".

as in a person who hates gay people and constantly advocates against them eventually becomes a gay person himself or someone who is against racism eventually becomes a racist

i cant wrap my head in the psychology of this, is it the exposure and the absorption of knowledge regarding the topic that the person made that causes them to become the monster?

The point here is that to gaze into the abyss is to confront nihilism. But to then base a concept of overcoming solely on nihilism is itself ressentiment and therefore you've done nothing at all. The idea of the overman therefore can't be based just on the overcoming of the abyss of nihilism, as that's self contradictory and totally incoherent.
The overman must have completely overcome nihilism, so he doesn't even feel the need to gaze into the abyss too long anymore.
