No it's not, 'replacing' doesn't mean what you think it does, because it's just another form of responding to instinct. There are 3 basic instincts that govern your life. Sex, Hunger and fear. Everything you do from the day you were born has been in response to those three instincts, sure sexually you mature later, but it doesn't refute my point. It can be shown that human behaviour results from those instincts. So thinking that you are special because you are human is just wishful thinking really.

To elaborate, one can’t deny feeling like one has free will. The more power you claim for yourself regarding it, the more “actual” free will you have. This has nothing to do with determinism or predictability of neural systems though, it’s just that even if you can claim everything is determined and you have no agency, you cannot just switch it off and go full auto mode. Doing nothing and rotting away is a choice, even if there are no real choice mechanisms (though it seems to me there are).

Your genetics obviously weren't in your control. Your first experiences are not in your control as well. So after your first experiences you will make your desicions based on these. None of them were in your control. With the decisions you make with these 2 factors your experiences will change, yes. But what led you to those experiences was the experiences you had before that. When I look at it like that I can't think free will is real.
