Daily Reminder That We Will Never Meet Aliens

We need to stop the "look at the huge number of planets out there, it means there's a huge number of intelligence out there!" meme. Just because there's a huge number of planets is meaningless. It's especially meaningless when looking at how insane our solar system is compared to any other.

Even our Sun is insane. Not only is it a G-type star, which are only 8% of other stars, it's rare even in the G-type group! How so? The Sun is precisely balanced between being not so massive that it burns out too quickly, but also massive enough to have a metal core from birth to disrupt a lot of would-be solar flare activity. Typical G-type stars have huge magnetic activity at birth because they haven't created enough Helium to form a core to disrupt convection currents (the thing that creates magnetic activity). If our Sun was like that, the planets in our solar system would have been too damaged from the getgo to harbor life. The high-metalicity of our Sun is very unique.
