How the fuck can a vector space be complex and how the fuck am I supposed to understand this shit intuitively?

Ah yes so you just multiply the orthonormal basis vectors $|i\rangle$ by the complex coefficient $\alpha _{i}$ and that gives you Hilbert space vector $|A\rangle$.
