>>12074376The phrase "consciousness is an illusion" describes cosciousness as "an illusion", which is a term referring to a concept which occurs in the domain of cosciousness. It's so circular a statement, in my opinion it's evidence of the fact that the subject of whether consciousness is real isn't worth talking about.
That's not to say emotions or thoughts or memories aren't real, those do exist as concrete observable systems made of regular old bio goo or silicon that's easy enough to aim an instrument at and begin to characterize. I just think the philosophical end is a nonstop circle jerk and isn't worth debating because people have gone nowhere with it despite talking about it for thousands of years.
