He litterally got a masters in electric engineering at a state uni, so he cant be a co.plete idiot. That aside, he was a genious because he really did write a ton of innovative stuff, which worked for embedded systems. Nowadays moat niggers in tech cant handle less than 50 layers of abstractions and loading 30 librarires for simple problems.

Writing your own operating system, complete with a compiler for your own custom-made dialect of C, along with support for both 2d and 3d rendering, then fitting all of this in just a couple of megabytes, is a task the utmost few of programmers can hope to accomplish.
