Most steel shops don't have their own galvanizing tubs, so it needs to be transported to another shop to have it done. If you've got large and light assemblies, the heat of the galvanizing process might cause warping without additional bracing. Preparing shop drawings would also require more time as they would need to add the proper holes and copes for venting and draining. If you need to field weld, the shop also needs to spend time masking the areas and once welding is done, they would need to spend the time to cold galvanize the area. Got to buy galvanized bolts as well. If you have a slip critical connection, the faying surface would need to be roughened.
