What is conscience? Is consciousness a product of the mind or the brain reproduce conscience like a radio produces music from radio waves, from an external source?

For now, we only have been able to reproduce complex algorithms that resembles conscience, but is not conscience itself, is just a facade, and doesn't seem like something we will achieve one day and we don't know nothing about the brain.

But with what we know, what can we say consciousness is?
