Are electric cars really the way forward?

Do you see it being able to match gas cars in terms of mileage and cost? If so, how many years are we away from it?

Tesla's have a range of like 400 miles right? If there were the same number of charging stations as there are gas stations, it would be able to keep up. Not to mention that overall electric cars have few parts that can fail. I don't think gasoline vehicles will ever fully be replaced until EROI of hydrocarbons becomes prohibitive enough for batteries to be a necessity

The only way for them to replace ICE engines is if they find out a way to make batteries with far less or more common resources. The way it is right now, there's absolutely no way every car in the world could be replaced with an electric, we simply wouldn't have the materials to make that many batteries.

Sure, if only you don't take into account the time to recharge, teslas take from 30 to 50 hours to fully charge, that's nuts. A normal car can be fully "charged" in minutes, can you even think about travelling by car for 400 miles and then loosing 2 days just to recharge it? Fuck it, if batteries don't improve incredibly electric cars have no hope.

1- I don't think you know how many people go trough a normal gas station every day, if we all had electic cars every recharge station would have to keep a fuckton of batteries laying around and another fuckton of specialized mechanics to open the car and substitute the battery, operation that will still take an enormous amount of time if compared to normal cars. Stop thinking about electric cars as the future, they are just a novelty for rich fags.

Additionally this also an assumption that it couldn't be automated nor basically like swapping out batteries in a TV remote if it's engineered so. Just a matter of desire to do so; not impractical.

Most people drive to commute or shop within their community. Batteries already last all day but charging in parking lots while at work or what not would also lower the use of battery swaps. Swaps would be more beneficial on freeways and for trucks for example.
