The ethical implications of curing deafness are pretty cut and dried and there are still outcries in the deaf community due to it. Most gays don't want a pill to turn them straight. It's a weird place to be, as a kid you feel it so strongly because everyone is telling you that you are disgusting and shouldn't exist. You have all these good people you know that would hate you if they knew, or feel like they would. For me even in that darkest moment I couldn't bear the thought of giving it up. Like even if my sexuality did a full 180 flip. I don't think I could ever get over the loss of how good it feels to be held by another man and feeling safe and warm. Some say they had times they would have taken the pill, but never met one that didn't grow past it.
>Certain types of sex are riskierThat's true, but by that metric all woman should become lesbians as they have the lowest STD and cervical cancer risk of any sexually active coupling. This also implies that all people should be regulated on the type of sex they have. No more bareback between anyone, no more anal, no more oral, etc. Etc. Until it's only lesbians and dude's jacking off in cups for said lesbians to turkey baste into their vaginas to get pregnant. As for the substance abuse and mental illness stats, well, I lived in California and worked at a gay youth center in highschool. We were in one of the most liberal places I know of and we still had at least a kid a week come in and crash on the couch after being kicked out. We had special counslers just to get them to the government care system so they didn't end up homeless like most of em.
>Early 60's Conversion therapy is still going strong in many places all over the world dude. None of them have been successful, we can only induce an aversion not an attraction.
