Im a senior math major. Learning set theory from an early age would've molded my brain to think about stuff the way I do as of now, there's a big shift in reasoning once you get into college mathematics which puts off a lot of people and makes them change to engineering or drop out entirely. The concept of a proof shouldn't be any more alien to a 5 year old than the fact you must open the jar's lid to get to the jelly.

Would you really though? The shift of reasoning is a shift for a reason. If one started from sets and went formally through math I don’t think one would understand it as well as if fed plenty examples beforehand. I agree the rigor should start earlier, or at least at all before university. I will admit knowing sets and logic semi-formally helped me a lot in my first year, but so did all the basic general math knowledge I had beforehand.
