Navier-Stokes and other Millennium Questions

So I am a neuroscience graduate student with some interest in mathematics. Albeit I have not dove into higher level mathematics beyond an algebraic calculus course, I do find it interesting to learn about several broad fields within mathematics. Now as for my question, I was wondering how feasible it would be for individuals outside the realm of concentrated mathematics to be able to solve Navier-Stokes smoothness problems and the other types of problems that are among the other millennium questions? I find them intriguing mainly because of their bounty for solving any of them, as they are some of the more complex mathematical questions out there (speaking incredibly naively here about their complexity, as I’m sure there are others).
