About to start my 3rd year of a degree in Genetics, and curious about the quality of some of the stuff being sold here: https://www.the-odin.com/

Don't waste money, you'd need to spend thousands in order to make a home lab.
You won't need anything that your uni doesn't have already

seconding this. if you're still a student, just use your uni's labs. ask your professors if they need an assistant for research or if you could run a small research project between academic terms

Not sure if this stands true for all their products, but I've heard their pretty bad. Low quality and faulty specimens in some cases.

PCR machine heats correctly and the pipettes are fine and the electrophoresis box is something you can literally make from aluminium foil and some clamps so it's not something you can really fuck up.
centrifuge is small but it spins and that's all it really needs and the reagents are fine for something basic so it's all the equipment you need if you want to do bacterial/yeast transformations
t. bought the big kit because the equipment was cheaper than anywhere else i could find at the time

also ya just use the uni lab if you want unless you've got a few grand to burn doing your own autism projects

I mean shop around definitely and look around for second hand lab equipment but it's cheap for what it is and ya centrifuge still spins and pcr is fine and the pipette still succs and that's honestly the most expensive parts

The guy ordered a DNA kit for a yeast project, but the sample turned out to literally be just water.
They shipped regular mail, which is bad practice for possibly perishable lab materials.
They also sell ethically questionable kits with live frogs.

That's about it. They may have stepped up their game since then (2018).
But, if possible, I would try to find a different company.

also they stopped selling the frogs because they couldn't be fucked raising and caring for them
