That's like only one facette. You cannot deny there's a collective collaboration. Yes it is very messy and often spoiled by the pursuit of self-interest. But we're still building from the work of others, there is no denying in that.

Humans are very tribal. That's the main reason of our success and chance of demise. We're not the first species to fuck up our habitat. Plants and Dinosaurs changed the composition of their atmosphere.

But we're so far as we know it the only species to recognize it and at least trying to undo the damages. The ozone layer issue and broken resolving is a good example of this.

Depending your take on the Doomsday Argument and the Refined Antrophotic Principle there's always a timeline where we will survive, as long consciousness persist through decoherence.

Yeah, that's true. Human knowledge has grown enormously the last couple hundred years, especially the last decades, by countless people making small additive contributions and sharing them with others
