Micro-chipping everyone would allow effective contact tracing to be carried out on a population and could eliminate the need for vaccines and regional/economic shutdowns.

It's a slippery slope because someone would try to use the technology to determine the whereabouts of an individual in a murder trial and to extrapolate from that it could be used by those in power to track political opposition &c.

Trusting the micro-chipping info to an AI is a potential solution but is susceptible to the terminator timeline or hacking by foreign powers.

Is this trust issue an unsolvable problem? It is undeniable that a population that is capable of successfully implementing population wide micro-chipping and threading the needle correctly would be the superior superpower.
