You could probably get by with slide decks, but it can't hurt. Either way, it's intro bio, and you're not really going to learn much. No one does in the intro classes.

You shouldn’t buy textbooks. You should buy a good setup for reading pdfs of textbooks. Either your laptop or desktop computer, or a tablet dedicated solely for pdfs (to avoid getting distracted by apps).

You can get free textbooks at lib gen, b-ok, or similar websites that let you download free pdfs for millions of books.

Since I started using ebooks I’ve had access to an order of magnitude more books than those I bought for undergrad. I don’t have to carry the books around like if I bought them. And they’re as free as borrowing from the library
