big difference youll get at MIT vs. random above average state school is 1. majority of ur peers will be smarter u should get good connections, 2. more research opportunities, 3. ur name reputation makes employers more likely to look at ur resume (no guarantee of job, just higher chance of interview), 4. if ur doing phd, name reputation helps as well
in academia, big name rep helps a lot especially at top schools (stanford, mit, harvard), ull see a lot of crossing circle jerk tier nepotism with many profs being raised within these elite school circles
if ur in industry, within few years no one will give a shit where u went to school what matters is just r u a retard or not
