I'm starting a physics postgrad (PhD) course in just over a month, but I have to fund it myself
in order to do this, I will have to put in a lot of hours as a graduate teaching assistant.
If you've done a science degree, you'll have seen postgrads doing this. Taking the basic coding classes, supervising labs, marking your lab books, etc. This is more or less what I'd have to do.
But I'm doubting that I have the ability for it. I don't want to look clumsy or stupid or not be able to answer a undergrad's question or unable help their experiment. I didn't exactly find it easy when I was in their position, and thinking back to the postgrads who helped and taught me, I can't see myself being as confident or knowledgeable as them. It's hard enough just to go outside.
What are your thoughts?
