Why terraform if we can simply become beings that thrive in the void? From simple gene-augmentation to built void-adapted parahumans to moravec cyborgs or digital minds who have no need for air, pressure, water, food or gravity. Why be limited to be a planetary civilization if we can construct a thousandfold more habitats, factories and even dyson swarms from the material we would have terraformed? Such solar system colonization will grant mindkind far more ressources, it will be done way faster and we will be far more resitant to the harshness of the cosmos?
