Can any of y'all chemistry experts help a brainlet out? I'm being asked to write some chemical equations "by showing hydrated metal cations to illustrate how complex ions occur" and I have no fucking idea of what's being asked of me.

We're doing reactions of transition metals in aqueous solution, and I can write and balance the ionic equations but I'm not sure of what's being asked of me here.
