The study of phylogeny is concerned with the Phyla classification in the classification of living things. The Phyla grouping is based on bioplans (baoplans): these seemingly necessary, similar, and shared characteristics that are present in very early stage development among the animals within a phyla.

They are all molluscs, but they are so far removed from literally all other molluscs that most people would be shocked to learn that octopuses are closely related to snails, mussels, and clams. Cephs are the extreme result of evolution going as far as you can with a given bioplan.
Now, take this similar extreme to birds. I will say, aves are pretty amazing in what they can do and how different they are from the rest of the chordates. But I feel like we can go even more extreme.
