The only thing that makes it difficult to read is that the date line is relegated to the edges, and not the center of the picture. I did a quick edit to put right your troll-confusion (ignore imperfections).
Still, troll or no, your observation has a trace of truth: the date line itself is indeed fucked up. Basically Kiribati got sick of being spread across two days and wanted a standard time zone, or something.
