I have studied basic astronomy but there's a problem. When I look up in the sky to the stars I have no Idea what I'm looking at. How do I know which star I'm seeing? How do I even know where the cardinal directions are without the sun? Am I just autistic?

Face a direction you know, for example North. Look up in the sky and in your visual plane North will be down, south will be up, east and west remain the same. Find a recognizable constellation, you may have not noticed it, but they're actually huge as fuck and can span the entirety of your visual field. The easier ones are Orion's belt which are relatively close in an almost straigth line, the big dipper which is a big square of nothing, and the pleiads which are a small clump.
