Does an amnioscentesis detect less common chromosomal disorders? My mother had one performed while I was in the womb because the doctor had expressed that there was a 4-8% chance that I had a really critical genetic disorder. Thankfully the procedure revelaed that I did not in fact have the disorder, but now I suspect that I have Klienfelters Syndrome (47XXY). I am wondering if this would have been mentioned by the doctor or if it could have flown under the radar due to it being quite a rare disorder (approx 1 out of 400 men have this disorder). The doctor never mentioned anything. This procedure was performed in 1999.
