Why people say that antidepressants cure depression?

Scientists usually say: ''Antidepressants cure depression after some months of using them''
What I don't get is:
Antidepressant work inhibiting MAO or SERT MOMENTANLY
WHEN THE molecul is out of the body/brain the SERT keeps on working like it were doing before antidepressant dose, Ok?
So why giving it up on antiepressant (after a period od months of using them) should fix that chemical inbalance/wrong serotoninergic pattern forever even if yo've stoped using them?

The idea that a chemical imbalance is responsible for depression is a myth perpetuated by modern psychiatry. There exists so far no conclusive evidence supporting that idea. Plenty of research however has or still considers this hypothesis to be a factually correct one.

Antidepressants can stop some of the symptomes associated with depression including some of its manifestation that only represent themselves on a purely conscious, introspective level. One might say that this is enough and the condition ceases to be since there is no one affected by it. But antidepressants are drugs and thus behave exactly like drugs. In case of antidepressants, this means the seeming allevation of depressive symptomes by simply suppressing them. The depression itself however remains or even increases in severity. The usefulness of antidepressants decreases with time. Thus, one is forced to either manage the depression by other means or to increase the dosis/change the prescription. Once you're on antidepressants, it's virtually impossible to quit them without reliving the depression. Thus people remain stuck on these antidepressants for decades.

They say they treat depression. Cure is considered permanent. Even if an anti-depressant works for someone, it needs to be continually used. It's not curing anything, it's treating a symptom.

The point of which all is that antidepressants do not treat depression. They simply suppress the symptomes which is the whole point. Drugging people so they remain functioning. It keeps them profitable for the market and makes them dependent on the pharmaceutical industry.

They don't. Depression is a natural and in most cases actually healthy response to an hostile environment. It encourages the person to stop pursuing a goal that is unattainable and ipso facto will only damage the person's reputation and social standing.

Again, the idea that chemical imbalance is the cause or product of depression has no credible evidence.

Because depression is not the result of a chemical imbalance and artifically influencing neural chemistry won't solve the underlying issue. It only alters the overt manifestation of depression.

That's called a model. A model is an explanation someone comes up with to explain bits of the phenomenon. The phenomenon itself is impossible to study with the tools we have, we can only try things and check the results.

The 'chemical imbalance' is a part of the condition, it's not the majority of the thing, but antidepressants consistently help patients. As I said, it's a model, it fixes a part of the disease but not everything. If you represented the many variables of depression as a function like x^3+x^2+x+1, x^2 is the chemical imbalance, but not the x^3 which is the main part of the disease.

Putting shit in your body makes body-made stuff being produced less. You need to take antidepressants for a long time to give you the state you need to work thoughts around and once you feel better you need to wane them to get your body produce the stuff by itself again. Look up on the particular pharmacokynetics of the drug if you want to dig deeper.

Newer research has indicated that SSRI treat depression less by correcting a chemical imbalance, but rather by helping neural pathways regrow that were weakened by depression. Some people can take antidepressants for a year and never need them again. Some people need to be on them their entire life. At the end of the day the primary goal is to improve quality of life. This science is far from complete and we're really only scratching the surface of how the brain functions.
