the list of uses of tau as a symbol is pathetically short. it really wouldn't take much effort at all to adapt work to use tau instead of pi. tau really is easier to quickly think about than having to convert back and forth between slices of a circle and radians. there's just not really a lot of reason to use pi apart from inertia

pi wins with unit circle's area, gaussian integral and euler's identity and the simple fact that multiplying by two in some situations is much much nicer than dividing by two in some situations

What we really ought to do is rename pi to tau and then the new tau should equal to pi and pi should equal to 2pi. This is very logical and straightforward, because you can observe the original pi multiplier (1 or 2) by counting the legs of tau or pi.

You can tell which value is which if you notice that pi = tau/2 (two legs) and tau = tau/1 (one leg)

tau uses:
torque in physics (sometimes, i like big gamma)
time constant in physics (sometimes)
shear stress in physics
taus in physics
torsion in math

honestly both letters don't have a lot allocated to them. it would be easy to make the change

I'm for, but I don't like the symbol. It's faster to draw, but it could be confused with (capital) T. Surely we can find a better symbol. I don't like $\pi \!\;\!\!\!\pi$ .
