How do you verify synthetic division? I noticed if I fucked in one computation it's hard to find out since the coeficients add up. Of course, I don't intend on replacing the x, that's fucked.

if you make a mistake during division, then the answer would be wrong, meaning the expression you get from ((divisor * quotient + reminder)) would be different from dividend, right?! ...at least that's how it worked for me so far

Which is an error since I made a mistake on the coefficient 7 from the quotient. However, if said "I'm going to multiply this 17 in the quotient by the dividend and add substract the residue", i'll get the constant 3 since that's the same shit i've been doing to this point. Of course for this case I could verify it by replacing the x with a 1, but what if the x was a very large number? How could I circumvent this?

If I did ((divisor * quotient + reminder)) with the full expressions it would take a lot of time, probably 3 times the time it'd take to simply do long division. Then It would be better to simply do the numbers again. Do you know a shortcut to do ((divisor * quotient + reminder)) ?

Who doesn't write the subtraction sign on every line when they do synthetic division? Pretty cringe and bluepilled. I think the last time I even did that was in calc 2 for an integral where doing it made it easier to integrate.

Just keep track of things? Use a calculator to check yourself.

What do you mean? You were probably taught wrong.

When you have P(x) / (x-a), you write the opposite sign of a to sum the columns instead of substracting, otherwise you do the same shit as long division and lose time on it. If you want to evaluate P(x), you also write the opposite sign of a because if x=a , (a-a)=0, then p(a)=0*Q(x) + R(x). I don't see where this substraction sign you claim fits.
