>>12033420>No organism can live on its own. As some organisms evolve to generate resources, predators and parasites evolve to take advantage of that, and organism in general adapt to other organisms being existing around, but it is physically possible for an organism to exist on it's own, organisms can create organic matter and obtain energy from inorganic physical and chemical sources. The thing is, organisms adapt to the environment they are in, and part of that environment is other creatures, so even when creatures generate their own organic material, and obtain their energy from inorganic means (like plants) they still rely on other organisms in subtle ways. Plants COULD reproduce without pollinizing insects, but why not using them since they are around, they could fix nitrogen, but why not let the fungi do it. Cows COULD digest they own food, but since they are inevitable fill their guts with bacteria when they eat grass, why not making them do the work of balancing the biota and digesting cellulose. That doesn't mean that parasites and predatores are necessary, they are just inevitable, and even prey evolve to rely on they being around.
