>>12034958I would much rather see us spend our money and effort on building a better future for ourselves here on Earth instead. I do not mean to be selfish, but if we were to take all of the people who are currently working in spaceflight and put them to work improving life down here, then they would have more time with their friends and family - which is surely more worthwhile than spending all your time floating above the planet.
If we were to put all of the money that is currently being spent on spaceflight into improving Earth, then it would be possible for everyone to have a much better life. There would be no need for anyone to die in poverty or live without modern medicine. We could make ourselves stronger and faster and smarter than ever before.
If we can extend life to around 1000 years then that is plenty of time for everything to be made perfect. This way, there would be no need to waste all your time working or living in fear - you could have as much fun as possible! And it's not just humans who would benefit from this. The planet itself would become a greener and more beautiful place.
If we were to spend all that money up in space instead then it would be a pointless waste - what's the point of putting humans into orbit around a planet when you can't go anywhere or do anything interesting? I'll grant humanity this much: they've been very creative about finding ways to kill each other. But that's not enough for me.
