>>12019408That depends on your level. If you are a grandmaster then you should learn a lot of variants and focus on more positional game (although there are grandmasters who successfully use king's gambit and other risky openings).
But if you are a beginner or an intermediate player (which is probably true about most 4chan chess enthusiasts), then playing gambits has a whole lot of benefits for you:
-you can learn a limited number of variants and if your opponent does not know them, you can quickly trap him
-you learn tactics in a very intense and fun way and that will be very useful for you even in more calm defenses
-you can compensate your current lack of experience in positional play
-it's actually very fun to defeat your enemy during the rapid attack on his king with sacrifices
