Okay /sci/, I'm ready, what do I need to read/work through to understand Gödel's incompleteness theorem, I want the most direct path to understand it rigorously. I want to be able to prove it myself.

Mathematical maturity. There is basically zero actual prerequisite knowledge and anyone with maths experience should be able to understand the proof.

The idea of it is essentially equivalent to Turing's theorem, which actually doesn't require that much in the way of maths. Turing's idea would be the easiest way to prove it.
