It's commonly said that is a good idea to drive behind another car in a race, because the front car creates a low pressure zone behind it. But is it actually true?
From my rudimentary understanding of fluid dynamics, I would think the main factor is that the the front car creates an inviscid behind it, due to boundary layer effects.
