>>12012797What I've learned for the 4 years I've been an adult is that unless you are completely invested in something you will burn out and fail. Has happened to me, has happened to almost everyone I know. If you did not discover your field of interest when you were a toddler then getting a Ph.D. will likely be a mistake. A Ph.D. is 4+ years of (pretty much) unpaid labor for which in the end there is barely any gratification. You will not get a good job right out of the bat. You will not even get a stable income, much less one that is comparable to what you've invested. At the beginning where everything is uncertain (in your case what you'll even get a Ph.D. in) these things may seem too far away but the closer you get the more the pressure and weight start piling up on you. Why has it been 1 year since you graduated college and you are still not making money?
Why has it been 2 years since you graduated college and you are still not making money?
Why has it been 4 years since you graduated college and you are still not making money?
Why has it been 8 years since you graduated college and you are still not making money?
Why has it been 15 years since you graduated college and you still can't afford a down payment for a home?
Etc.
