I just imagine that parents just trusted the medical establishment in the 40's and 50's, child was circumcised, they brought them home and that was that. The lack of a pushback though when parents realized what they had done... perhaps there just wasn't any outlet, or it wasn't great enough. People didn't talk about things back then. Time goes on. Circumcised child becomes circumcised adult, has sons, has his sons circumcised. The cycle had begun.
Still, that's not an actual mechanism. Though I suppose it's not unbelievable that faith in medicine could cause a man witha foreskin to see no issue in his son's being removed, despite knowing exactly what had been lost. Doublethink, nothink conditioning. Know without knowing. See without seeing.
