Best way to filter water?

How can we remove endocrine disruptors from birth control, and other chemicals that turn the frogs gay, from our water?
Is reverse osmosis filtration the best way? Is the resulting demineralization of water a legitimate concern?
What about (activated) carbon/charcoal filters? Should they be used in conjunction with other types of filters?

There is no such a thing. The primary concern needs to be the depletion of nutrients (especially the first row transition metals) which lead to the inability to synthesize appropriate amounts neurotransmitters.

There is no such a thing. The primary concern needs to be the depletion of nutrients (especially the first row transition metals) which lead to the inability to synthesize appropriate amounts of neurotransmitters, enzymes unable to function without the correct ions at the right sites, etc.

A simple google search will show that birth control byproducts exist in detectable levels all around the world, and that exposure to trace amounts of the stuff can lead to hypogonadism in amphibious animals.
