Most of "science" is. The moment you cut the observable connection to empirical reality, you enter the realm of soft schizophrenia where everything is possible and where a selection of the most-believable-bullshit gets to be knighted by the academia's collective mark of approval, which then passes into humanity's "scientific" canon that we should all use to interact with empirical reality, yet ironically that never actually happens and it stays right there in the realm of rationalism forever, because it never had a connection to reality in the first place - it is coherent schizophrenia at best with an internal system of rules that is coherent within its own closed system, but not coherent at all once you try to apply it to the physical universe around us.
In simpler terms, it is like a schizophrenic explaining to you how all of the angels that he sees behave with one another and how there's a very defined and logically-coherent social hierarchy, with all the intricate behaviors and rivalries and so on, but never actually daring to admit that these angels did not exist in the first place.
