This fits the definition of gravity as curvature of space. Objects move towards each other solely depending on how sharp the slope of the curve is.

I'm pretty stoned right now, so I might be misunderstanding your question. Are you asking why objects accelerate toward's Earth at 9.8m/s2 regardless of mass? Think about what mass (m) measures. It measures an object's resistance to acceleration (a). The force of gravity is proportional to the mass of the object, so as mass increases, the strength of the gravitational force will increase in kind.

Basically, mass increases and the object becomes harder to move.
mass increases and the force acting on that mass increase proportionally
therefore, objects of different mass will experience the same acceleration.
