>>12008172>buy above an econobox is for statusYour whole infograph is about how the model 3 is cheaper to own than a Camry. The German sedan makers (Audi, BMW, MB) don't make sport cars aside from their halo cars, but their standard options are still 'sporty' enough. They can handle and they can go tracking with brake temps being the only real issue.
The model 3 is the cheap tesla. The model s has fucking amazing straight line performance but it struggles with cooling and handling. The model 3 is worse in every aspect compared to the s. I would love if tesla released an actual sporty model s and model 3. Remove the front trunk and front motor to fit a massive radiator. Beef up the rear motor a bit to compensate the lost front motor. I know the battery tray is a structural component, so this is the farthest reach, but maybe centerline the batteries for reduced capacity but improved moment of inertia.
>until EVs have proliferated the fleet vehicle segmentYour fucking with me right? Fleet sales is what drives the trends in the auto industry. Saying ICE is on the way out now is like saying VHS is on the way out when laser disc released. Yes, optical media eventually won, but it was DVD that pushed it out. Some fleets are electrifying but these are mostly bespoke orders for companies that can afford it. Until they have the versatility and parts supply for fleet use, they won't make it.
>electric trucks are capable due to duty period providing a charge breakYou were right. long haul is pretty broad and I was thinking strictly cross country.
>You don't even know what fluid systems EVs haveI'll be blunt, I don't trust the battery coolent lasting more than 5 years sealed. Every liquid cooling setup, even for electronics, gunks up due to corrosion and wall saturation. However, tesla is putting their money behind it so I shouldn't care. Oil changes are still needed because you are still lubricating 400hp. I will elaborate on my reply to the post below yours.
