>>12001461Women are supposed to be involved with different activities than men. They're generalists, multitaskers, think of a mom with a child on her lap while the phone rings and she's preparing lunch for a more modern example. Centuries ago women used to be responsible for passing on culture, raising children and taking care of the household(which was a necessary complement to what men did, neither could fully function by themselves). The Industrial Revolution broke this and separated people into individual workers instead of a family unit working together towards a common goal. Curiously enough, Thomas Jefferson on his "Notes on Virginia" wanted the US to remain agricultural to preserve the model where each family had their own piece of land and was responsible for their own sustenance. He predicted that if America industrialized many people would become reliant on a couple people, factory owners, and it would disrupt the "family chain", where people needed to work together. And that's what happened.
Some people argued that was necessary, but before the Industrial Revolution there were also scientific breakthroughs, and I think if things come at a slower pace in exchange for a healthy society then so be it.
