They are finding newer and better treatments. The cancer of today is not the same as 100 years ago. We still have a very long road ahead of us too.
The cancer organizations that are currently marketed so heavily are a travesty. They donate almost nothing to research, claiming that they raise awareness, but I doubt that they even increase the incidence of testing all that much. Most people are completely unaware on what they should be doing with their health

The truth is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Most Americans dying from heart disease and cancer could have lived a healthier lifestyle and prevented many of the cases. But that would require people to get off their asses and own their actions and inactions, but today people equate that kind of thinking with fascism.

If the telomeres are gone, the cell just dies. Telomeres are a cancer defense mechanism.
Cancer isn't really a "bug" in our DNA. It's an eventuality caused by purposefully imperfect cell replication. What we see as a bug is actually a feature. The feature is enabling the evolution of an organism.
