Why doesn't our most important organs the brain or the heart heal themselves like skin does? Does anyone else find this stupid?

They do heal themselves. They just can't heal large/fast damages. The reason is because they'er already well protected by the skull and the rib cage. So extra protection is inefficient for the body as far as resources are spent.
