Could it be that the current population of america gained some traits through evolution because of the nature of the original immigrants ?
For instance, we all know about Darwin's finches and their beaks; you take a special sample population and they thrive in a special environment while some don't.
We also know that some personality traits are passed down through generation; we don't throw shit at each other anymore because the monkey were able to survive socially by not doing that.
Now, if you take a look at the original American ethnicity you'll notice that the natives died or were ostracized, and the people who colonized the land were of Dutch, Irish, German or maybe even French if you consider canada.
They were all led by one thing: finding a better life, finding food, fleeing Europe.
My schizo theory would be that this way, Americans have distinct personality trait from Europeans because the original ancestors left their home country, which is not a thing that a lot of people do. This led to a very interesting gene pool of behaviours.
