>>11994081The way I think about it is that the logarithm asks "what do I have to raise to my base to get this number?", since 6^2=36, 6 is the square root of 36, or to put it another way you have to raise 1/2 to the base to get 6, so it evaluates to 1/2. The rest is easy: 1/2*4=2
The hard way to think about it would be to use the logarithm rule to raise 6 to the 4 th power, and in that create 36^2, from which the entire expression evaluates to 2. But honestly I think doing that confuses most people, so best stick with the first method.
