This whole idea of carbon being the god of life just pisses me off. It doesn't do shit in organic molecules, with nitrogen, oxygen, phospohorus, and a small handful of other functional groups doing all of the heavy lifting.
Like if you ignore just how hard this shit wouldn't work, and assume we could magically replace this with something like silicon, if it's taking carbons place, it'll have nothing to with the major interactions that are necessary for life.
