as for their actual /sci/entific contribution, i'd say there are almost no people that can be regarded as passing. it seems people have run out of ideas on what to research, so everything is either VR/AR/XR shit or "machine learning", which is actually just a deep neural network framework if you actually look at the methodology, since ML requires an understanding of math, which is something people try to dodge by going into CS
