humanity could but your talking about needing tons of stuff in place we dont have in place. oxygen can be artificially freed up from oxides. plants like co2 but humans through chemistry can do it to tons of oxides. but there is no means to do this on a large scale right now. so the masses die. food chemistry again synthesized amino acids and vitamins are possible but we dont have amino acids in bulk unless your counting petri dish jell which thats kind of a toss up since some of that is a protein solution thats plant based so again the masses die. animals will follow the plants mostly. the clean up would be hell. first few months is a biohazard due to the dead bodies but most of the supplies are out in the cities. crime through the roof because dood apocalypse

a small group could survive but they would need everything in place before hand. water treatment, amino acid and vitamin production , sugars are the hard part since humans like to use plant sources but on paper you can make them as well so 4 mini factories with lots of spare parts and some tanks of oxygen to act as a buffer zone with some stockpile of canned provisions and bags of sugar

I guess you could play with bacteria genes to produce everything you need, and if it's only multicellular a good part of the phytoplankton and zooplankton would stay too so for the oxygen it would be okay I guess. The only thing we'd have to do is maybe to regulate zooplankton since fish and crustaceans are gone.
